The Makita TW002GZ01 40V XGT Brushless 1/2'' Impact Wrench from ITS is, at the time of release*, the most powerful ½” Impact Wrench that Makita have ever produced with up to 2200Nm Nut-Busting Torque.
Ideal for construction work, automotive work and more, the TW002 Impact Wrench is all about the numbers. But before that, allow us to highlight some other features…
Along with the brushless motor, the impact wrench includes reverse rotation Auto Stop mode once the bolt/nut has been loosened enough; Variable Speed Control, electric brake along with an incredibly bright built in work light to ensure that you can clearly see what you’re working against in lower light situations.
Equipped with 1/2" square connection with friction ring, this is surprisingly compact, beautifully balanced and comfortable to handle thanks to ergonomically designed handle with soft grip. The tighetning capacity of a standard bolt is M12 - M36 and on a high tensile bolt is M10 - M37.
So lets look at some numbers..

4. Maximum Force – delivers 2400 Impacts Per Minute (IPM)
3. Hard Force – Easier to control that Max Force with 2000 IPM
2. Medium Force – Better for tightening with less force to avoid screw thread breakages with 1800 IPM
1. Soft Force – Ideal for fine adjustment with smaller diameter bolts with 1700IPM
The Auto-stop mode helps for good control when driving bolts. This mode has 3 steps. It also works differently for clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. For Clockwise, its designed to reduce the risk of breaking nuts or bolts due to overtightening. For Anti-Clockwise, it prevents a bolt from falling off. It will automatically slow or stop.
For Clockwise:
Mode 1: The tool stops automatically as soon as the tool has started impact blows. This mode helps to repeat screwdriving continuously with equal torque. This mode also helps to reduce the risk of breakage of bolts/nuts due to overtightening.
Mode 2: Will stop approx. 0.5sec later from the moment the impact action has started
Mode 3: Will stop approx. 1.0sec later from the moment the impact action has started
For Anti-Clockwise:
Mode 1: Will stop automatically as soon as it has stopped the impact action.
Mode 2: Will stop automatically approx. 0.2secs after the impact action has stopped
Mode 3: Will slow down after the impact action has stopped.
