1979-1985

THE BEGINNING

The company was formed as a supplier to local businesses in East London and Essex, trading under the full company name of Industrial Tool Supplies (London) Ltd. We opened our first store, a 150sq ft lock-up shop in Leyton There were no systems in place, very little stock holding and we only had 4 members of staff. We soon outgrew this shop and moved 10 doors down the road which allowed us to increase staff, stock and shop front.

1987-1995

GROWING

We were one of the first in the industry to recognize the benefits of computerisation which we achieved in 1987. Throughout the previous 10 years we acquired more adjoining premises to accommodate our rapidly expanding business and stock levels. We were now able to serve and support more local tradesmen and women.

1995-2002

MAIL ORDER

1. Expanded the current operation to offer a mail order delivery service to the whole of the UK, during this time we merged all periodic mail shots into one Monthly sales brochure called “ITS Monthly”
   ITS Monthly transformed into “ITS Update” and became a quarterly production sent out to current and historic customers.
   ITS update then changed into the ITS Catalogue as we now know it!

2003

WALTHAMSTOW OFFICE

In order to service the additional stock lines and growing audience we needed to move the office to a much larger unit. So we upped stocks and moved to the offices and our stock to Walthamstow, whilst retaining the store in Leyton High Street.

2012

LOUGHTON DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

Again the company grew to the point where we needed far greater space to be able to hold the new levels of stock in order to fulfill our promise to keep 99% of items in stock ready for delivery. So we opened a new head office and distribution centre in Loughton, Essex!

2013

LOUGHTON STORE

A few months later, we expanded once again with the opening of our second branch, located directly beneath our new Loughton head office. This gave customers easier access to our growing product range while bringing our retail, support, and operational teams even closer together under one roof.

2014

WALTHAMSTOW STORE

Following the success of our second branch and the growing demand from customers, we saw another opportunity to expand our retail offering. We converted our existing Walthamstow warehouse into a third branch, allowing us to serve even more local tradespeople and DIY customers with the stock, service, and support they needed.

2015

HARLOW STORE

To support our continued growth and expanding customer base, we opened our new flagship store on Edinburgh Way in Harlow. This marked an exciting step forward for ITS, giving us a larger, more modern space to showcase our growing range of tools, accessories, and trade essentials while delivering the expert service our customers expect.

2017

LEYTON STORE

Our Leyton store moved to a much larger premises just around the corner, giving us the space we needed to refresh and improve the shopping experience. The move allowed us to give the store a much-needed facelift, increase the amount of stock available in-store, and better support the growing demand from local tradespeople and customers.

2017

NEW WAREHOUSE

With an increasing product range and nationwide demand we again ran out of room in both our Loughton warehouse and head office, so we decided to move to the largest distribution centre in the south east of England, DC380 in Edinburgh Way, Harlow. Providing an employment boost to the local community and allowing us to continue to expand.

2019

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY

To help us celebrate our 40th year of supplying some of the best trades people in the UK we released a promotion with 40 incredible Power Tool Deals along with 40 more deals on your everyday essentials.

2024

HARLOW STORE MOVE

CHELMSFORD STORE OPENING

Following the amazing success of our newly upgraded Harlow Store, we wanted to see if lightning could strike twice — and it did! Delivering the same experience as our flagship store was no small feat, but we set out to prove to the trade, the people of Chelmsford, and the surrounding areas that we have exactly what they need: knowledge, range, and customer focus, all at competitive prices.

LUTON STORE OPENING

We were proud to open our brand-new Luton store — a one-stop destination for trade and DIY tools and accessories. Broken down into dedicated departments, it offers a comprehensive and informative shopping experience like no other. Customers can get hands-on with the perfect tool for any task or project.

We were excited to open our brand-new Dagenham store — a modern destination for trade professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.
