The Makita HP001 40V MAX XGT Brushless Combi Drill from ITS is an incredibly powerful heavy-duty combi drill makes up part of Makita High-Performance 40V MAX XGT range. This is a combi drill and so like any other drill driver, it can drill holes as well as drive screws, but can also drill into masonry.
It comes with standard features as you'd expect like an LED joblight, 13mm keyless chuck, and a 2-speed gearbox. However, that is where comparisons to a normal drill end.
This powerhouse will deliver 140Nm of hard toque which is incredible for a cordless machine, and it does that with a Brushless motor which has allowed Makita to deliver excellent runtime whilst also ensuring better protection for the motor/overall tool life.
Along with its 2-speed gearbox, the HP001G also has 21 torque settings to choose from, which are displayed on a digital screen, allowing you to select the perfect torque and speed for your task.
This drill can drill holes in wood up to 76mm, 20mm in metal and masonry.
The drill also features a single sleeve keyless chuck that allows for the easy installation or removal of bits with one hand, an electric brake and for your safety, Active Feedback Sensing Technology which will stop the drill’s rotation if it suddenly and unexpectedly slows down.
At the heart of this tool is the brushless motor that allows you to use the drill efficiently. As part of the design, the tool utilizes every bit of battery power when you need, all while reducing the need for ongoing maintenance by reducing the amount of heat generated and working more efficiently.

Makita's AFT is a Smart function to minimise the effect of kick-back. AFT will Shut down the tool, if the rotation speed suddenly slows down (e.g., kick-back). Active Feedback sensing Technology uses an on-board accelerometer to measure rotation and electronically turns off the motor if rotation is suddenly forced to stop. In addition, the torque limiting clutch is engineered to prevent gear damage by automatically disengaging the gears.
