Scheppach CSH56 20'' Petrol Chainsaw

Very surprised at the build quality and features of this chainsaw, it's German designed and built in China, but don't confuse it with some of the unbranded Chinese throw away machines available. Have only assembled it and started it up so far, not been put to work yet so can't comment on durability, but the signs look good. You do need a bit of muscle on the starter pull cord as it's not spring assisted and there isn't a decompression valve, but mine started 3rd pull so that's fine. Machine is a little on the heavy side too, fine used at ground level though I guess, the weight being a bit of a bonus and also a sign of it's solid build. It also runs on 40:1 petrol oil mix, not 25:1 as most cheap unbranded Chinese chainsaws do. All said, exceptionally good value, well made piece of kit.

What a good buy, generous bar length, good instructions, easy to assemble with all the tools. Its not too heavy and it has plenty of power. I cut up three medium size silver birches without a break when I first got it. When I first tried to start it, I could hardly pull the starting rope , there was so much compression and the fuel seemed to take forever to to get from the tank to the carburettor. When you first get it, take out the spark plug with the tool provided, give it three large pulls on the starting rope, which rushes fuel through and lubricates the cylinder, reinsert the spark plug and it will start first pull. Idles well and doesnt overheat and prove hard to restart like other saws I have had.
