I was a self employed house carpenter/builder in New Zealand for 14 years and on wages for 6 years before that. At the time everything was done in timber,: finishings, all structural members and exterior cladding. For the past 10 years I have been a self employed carpenter/joiner in the UK: while I still do a bit of carpentry I now mostly make hard wood or painted softwood free standing or fitted furniture. Since the early 90s I have used hitachi mitre saws and for the past 5 years have had this model.. I have had three hitachis over the years and they have only been replaced to be upgraded not because they have worn out. Blade changes are easy, compound mitres are easy and you can mistreat these saws a bit in the back of the van without detriment. I feel I know these saws inside out and cannot reccomend them highly enough. They have never let me down.
