I've got lots of 18v dewalt tools and fully trust the brand, but I wanted a more powerful strimmer that could double up as a brush-cutter. There 54v system was the obvious choice. I was eyeing the DCM571 and DCM5713, but the ability to get a polesaw attachment for the split boom DCMAS5713 swung it for me.
The DCMAS5713 is not a light tool, but the shoulder harness helps to take the weight off your arms. In terms of cutting power, I've found it superb. I've cleared several patches of overgrown brush with a separately purchased brush-cutter attachment and the included string trimmer has made light work of grassy areas. Battery life is pretty good - I've got through about 45 mins of heavy work and there has still been some life left in the battery.
In summary not a cheap bit of kit, but I can see it lasting for years given the build quality and a dewalt flexvolt battery redemption offer softened the financial blow a bit.
